Biografie von Jan Liefhebber
Jan Liefhebber has been an important element of the Dutch techno scene since the early 90’s.
In 1995 he set up the record label Highland Beats to provide a platform for the techno and acid that he played in his DJ sets.
Highland Beats went on to become one of the most successful techno labels of the 90’s and it provided a spring board for many new artists like Cristian Varela, Glenn Wilson and Lars Klein.
Highland Beats was one of the first Dutch techno labels and it has inspired many labels and artists since.
Jan’s DJ career started off in the underground techno scene. Together with some friends, he organised parties in crazy industrial locations like old abandoned farm houses, factories, fields and warehouses.
Jan’s musical taste was different to what most people were playing and he soon made a name for himself for his musical diversity and refreshingly different sets.
The popularity of Highland Beats also fuelled his notoriety and the first international bookings soon followed. In 2003 Jan released his first co-production. This led to a storm of remix requests and he has since co-produced on many prolific labels.
One of Jan’s strongest success factors is that he doesn’t let any trend dictate what he plays in his DJ sets and he keeps evolving.
After 40 releases on Highland Beats, Jan decided to start a new, fresh project.
2008 will see the launch of Eterno Records; the new project of Jan and partner Jenny Rose. Eterno reflects the sound that Jan plays at the moment and is set to be as much of a trendsetter as Highland Beats.
Jan Liefhebber has performed in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Sardinia, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the USA.
